Did you know, in Europe, plant protein powders with multiple protein sources are about 30% more expensive than single-source plant protein powders?

But why?

One explanation for this takes into account formulation complexities, as blending different proteins generally requires more processing and manufacturing steps.

Another is that because multi-source plant powders can be marketed as ‘complete’ formulas, brands can charge a premium.

For example, a 1kg pack of single-source Pea Protein Organic from BodyFit is listed for €20, while a 990g pack of its multi-source Vegan Protein retails at €36.

In terms of performance on Amazon, in February 2024 multi-source plant protein powders had a sales volume of 14,100 units on Amazon UK, compared to single-source's 5,900 units.
